Tekken 8 has quickly become one of the best fighting games, which reportedly outsold Street Fighter 6 in the UK. The player count is also pretty good, as it seems most of the players have moved on from Tekken 7.

While there is a huge roster of characters to select, one character in particular has become a new favourite for fans. The character in talk here is Reina who is one of the new additions to the game.

It was pretty obvious from all the marketing that Reina was going to play an important role in the lore. However, it seems her move set is also pretty popular among the players. Good enough to secure the highest pick rate for matches.

As per reports, over 8% of players are picking Reina. Right behind her is Sergei with almost 7% pic rate and Victor in third place with 6.5% pic rate. On the other hand, the lowest pick rate is of Panda at 0.4%.

Who is Reina?

Until the release of Tekken 8, the origins of Reina were a complete mystery. It was pretty clear that she was related to the main characters. However, after players completed the story mode, it was revealed that Reina is the daughter of Heihachi Mishima.

Nothing more was revealed, so it is also not clear if she will be the new antagonist in the future or an ally in the lore. Whatever the case may be, her backstory is probably not the reason for increased pick rate.

There can only be two main reasons for picking her. First one being more people enjoying her offensive and defensive play style. Second, being people trying to get a grip on new characters that will benefit them in competition.

As of now, the game has been out for just over a week. Coming months will tell more about her popularity among players.
