Penitent and Hi-Fi Rush are reported to be the first games to be ported on other platforms like PlayStation. The upcoming official Xbox podcast episode featuring Phil Spencer is set to provide more information on the topic.

Phil had previously said that the announcement would be crucial for the Xbox’s future and will come as a response to the ongoing rumours. The news may be deeper than just going multiplatform, however, Xbox fans need to brace for the worst.

Huge win for the gamers

Making the games multi-platform is a win for the overall video game community. Hardcore Xbox console fans do seem to have a problem with that, and their anger is also justified.

Xbox in recent years has not been as popular as its rival PlayStation. Reports suggest that the PS5 was outselling Xbox consoles 2:1. This is because the devices are not as powerful as the PS5 and the games being released on PC, which is the biggest gaming market.

Those who were brought to play Xbox games exclusively might feel betrayed, but then again, the games were also available on PC. Furthermore, it also raises many questions regarding the future of Xbox consoles.

Will there be more Xbox devices in future, or will everything end with Xbox studios going multiplatform? The exclusives were the driving force and if the games going multiplatform make more profit than keeping them exclusive, any company will choose profit first.

As per Verge, Microsoft’s overall gaming business just passed Windows in terms of revenue. Making the games multiplatform also gives them room to breathe amidst FTC’s scrutiny, especially with the recent lay-offs in the gaming division.
