The game will also have the Takeover game mode that will replace the unranked BR mode for the time duration of the event. During the event, players will be able to use the iconic Buster Sword R2R5 as a regular weapon.

The sword will have abilities along with a Limit Break gauge that will fill up by dealing or blocking damage. Buster Sword R2R5 can be found as a hot drop on the map or in care packages.

Materia, an item, that is used in the Final Fantasy 7 skill system will also be available across the map that will increase effects and/or bonuses.

Here’s what different Materia will do -

Blue Materia - Damage enemies to heal yourself

Green Materia - Reload an empty weapon to emit a shock nova, damaging and slowing nearby enemies

Purple Materia - Random criticals provide extra damage

Red Materia - Summon a Nessie companion to attack your foes

Yellow Materia - Damage enemies to see their remaining health

Completing the event will also reward the players with the Buster Sword R5, a mythic cosmetic that can be placed instead of heirlooms for all characters. It is also a limited-time reward and will be removed after the event ends. Players will only have the crossover duration to earn the reward.

Including the Buster Sword R5, there will be a total of 36 cosmetics in the event packs, with no duplicates. Crossover comes with multiple characters and weapon skins for various characters from the Final Fantasy 7 universe.

Players can also get rewards from watching the livestream, but they’re just stickers. You better play the game to grind those free cosmetics in you like Final Fantasy 7.
