Germany had a forgettable FIFA World Cup 2022 as they got knocked out of the group stage. They managed to win only one game and ended their campaign with four points in three matches. But, the German fans and players were not happy with World Cup being hosted in Qatar. They slammed FIFA President Gianni Infantino as migrant workers of Qatar came off with criticisms over the treatment towards them and their stance on LGBTQ+.
But, Infantino earlier showed support for Qatar and claimed that all western countries like Germany were showing hypocrisy while they are doing the same thing regarding human rights violations for centuries. So, now a controversial image of the FIFA President has gone viral as a statue has been designed in Frankfurt, Germany.

“I don’t want to give you any lessons of life, but what is going on here is profoundly, profoundly unjust.” - Gianni Infantino
Regarding the matter, Gianni Infantino said: “This moral lesson-giving — one-sided — is just hypocrisy. I don’t want to give you any lessons of life, but what is going on here is profoundly, profoundly unjust. For what we Europeans have been doing for the last 3,000 years we should apologize for the next 3,000 years before starting giving moral lessons to people.” Seeing such a statue, some fans came up with their thoughts on the social media platform. They also claimed that Germany are yet to accept their early exit from the World Cup.
Some fans also said that Germany could not digest the success Qataris had in hosting the World Cup successfully. After the world Cup, Infantino heaped high praises for Qatar. While speaking to the world media in a press conference, he said: “There’s unanimous praise from the FIFA council for this World Cup and for the unique, cohesive power it has shown. I thank Qatar, the organisers, the volunteers and everyone who have made this World Cup the best ever.”
Here is how fans have reacted to that viral image of the statue consisting of Gianni Infantino:
