Spanish giants, Real Madrid maintained their dominance as they clinched their 35th La Liga title on Saturday. The Spanish giants put in a dominant performance against Espanyol at the Santiago Bernabeu to clinch their 35th LaLiga title.
In an important game, Brazillian football player Rodrygo starred as he scored twice during the match in just a span of 10 minutes. Later, Marco Asensio netted a goal in the 55th minute and Karim Benzema in the 81st to help the team beat Espanyol by a margin of 4-0.
Notably, Carlo Ancelotti rested a few key players in a bid to keep them fit for the highly anticipated clash against Manchester City in the semi-final of the Champions League. However, despite resting some of the players, the club still had a lot of talented world-class players on the field.
Rodrygo produced the first goal of the match in the 33rd match and scored his second in the 43rd minute of the game only leave the opposition on the backfoot. Espanyol dealt with another blow when Marco Asensia made a brilliant finish to give his team the third goal of the match. Madrid, though, wasn’t done yet. In the 81st minute of the game, Madrid netted their fourth goal, courtesy of Benzema, who combined with fellow Vinicius.
With that win, Italian coach, Carlo Ancelotti now becomes only the first manager to have won titles in each of Europe’s five leagues, i.e., England, Spain, Germany, Italy, and France. Besides, Marcelo is now Real Madrid’s most successful player with 24 trophies to his name.
“We have won as early as possible, and that is everyone’s job to be celebrated. Today we have to celebrate, but we have an important game ahead. There is nothing to worry about if we do it right,” Marcello said after the match.
Following the crushing win, the fans were expressed their state of happiness on the micro-blogging site. Here’s a look at some of the best reactions:
