Manchester United’s star football, Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t play the highly anticipated fixture against Liverpool as one of his newborn son passed away recently. He took to his social media handle to share the tragic news with his fans on Monday.
Ronaldo and his partner, Georgina Rodriguez, were expecting twins. While, the latter had given birth to a girl, the son, however, sadly the son passed away. Ronaldo asked for privacy and, later, it was revealed that he won’t be turning up for his club in the high-profile contest.
A lot of prominent personalities, Manchester United and also English Premier League took to their respective social media handles to extend support to the Manchester United’s footballer, following the tragic incident.
For the unversed, the match between both the teams has concluded. Liverpool thrashed Manchester United by 4-0 margin. In a heart-warming gesture during the game, Liverpool extended support to Cristiano Ronaldo in light of the tragic incident.
The Red fans sang the Liverpool song, “You will never walk alone” to pay respect to the 37-year old footballer. They made the gesture in the seventh minute of the game while taking into consideration his jersey number.

Following the heart-warming gesture, Ronaldo’s family members thanked the club for extending their support. On watching the tribute, Ronaldo's sister Elma wrote on Instagram, "Thank you for this, Liverpool. We will never forget what you did today."
