Bengaluru FC is currently busy playing the ongoing Indian Super League season. However, they are still in contention to get into the top four positions. Currently, Bengaluru are in the sixth position with 22 points from 16 matches. Now, on 30 January, the club announced that Albert Roca has been appointed as the Technical Consultant.
Along with him, Darren Caldeira has been appointed as the Director of Football. Albert Roca guided Bengaluru FC to the final in their first-ever Indian Super League season in 2017-18. On the other hand, Caldeira played for the Blues from 2013 to 2015 and once again in the 2016-17 campaign.

Delighted at the chance to return to what has been a special football club in my career. Looking forward to working with everyone involved to take us forward. Like they say, once a Blue, always a Blue.

Bengaluru FC will face ATK Mohun Bagan in their next match in the ongoing Indian Super League
On 30 January 2023, Bengaluru FC shared the news on their official Twitter account. It reads: “UPDATE: The Blues have appointed Albert Roca as Technical Consultant and Darren Caldeira as Director of Football. Welcome back, gentlemen! #WeAreBFC #NothingLikeIt.”
In the official statement, the club owner and Director, Parth Jindal said, “We are thrilled to bring two former Bengaluru FC people back to the fold, as we look to restructure and take this club forward. Albert’s work with Bengaluru during his two seasons in charge was exceptional. Under him, we had one of the strongest squads and played arguably the most attractive football in the club’s history. His vision, network, experience, and the fact that he knows this club, will be aspects that will help us immensely.”
“In Darren, we have someone who is technically sound and has stayed connected very closely with the League in his previous role in broadcast. Importantly, having played for and won trophies with us, he is well aware of the mentality this club has been built on. I am confident that together, Albert and Darren – along with the rest of the team – will set us on track to being the football club we are capable of being, and beyond,” he added. Albert Roca and Darren Caldeira also shared their delight on Twitter upon the announcement.
