Seems as if Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney might not see eye-to-eye with each other. Apparently, it all started after the former's explosive interview with Piers Morgan in which he was heavily critical of Manchester United. Notably, Rooney is the former United forward. Meanwhile, the former England international appeared in a show related to the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2022.

Speaking during the VISA Match Centre on Viacom18 Sports’ FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 presentation, the English was asked three players who will be starting in his line-up, rested, and dropped. To which, Rooney replied by saying that he would drop Ronaldo, start with Lionel Messi, and rested Harry Kane, the current England player

“I would start Messi, bench Kane and drop Ronaldo because he stopped playing for his club,” the former England captain said.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo didn't spare Wayne during his 'infamous' interview. During the conversation, the 37-year-old had alleged that Rooney was 'jealous' of him because of his longevity. In reply, Rooney said that Ronaldo and Messi are the two best players. Also, the DC United coach added that there is nothing wrong in accepting that age is catching up with Ronaldo. Rooney claimed Ronaldo is finding it hard to accept this fact

"He’s a fantastic player. Him and Messi are probably the two best players to play the game. It’s not criticism, what I’ve said is age comes to all of us, Cristiano is finding it hard to deal with that.

"He’s done an interview and it’s gone global - bit strange some of the comments but I’m sure Manchester United will deal with it once they see the full interview and take whatever action they need to take."
