On 5 November, the fourth match of the Round of 16 took place in the ongoing FIFA World Cup. England locked horns with Senegal in Al Bayt Stadium. England came to the clash being unbeaten so far in the tournament. In the group stage, they won twice and drew one game as they collected seven points to top Group B.

On the other hand, Senegal finished in the second spot in Group A with six points in three games. So, fans were hoping for an enthralling battle between these sides. Despite not having their talisman, Sadio Mane, Senegal surprised everyone by qualifying for the knockout round.      

England thrashed Senegal 3-0 in the FIFA World Cup 2022

Senegal had a chance to score in the fourth minute only. Boulaye Dia has some space to shoot but Harry Maguire came up with a huge touch to send the ball back to Jordan Pickford. Then, Ismaila Sarr had a shot in the 23rd minute. But, his effort went over the bar. After that, Dia missed another chance in the 31st minute as Pickford came up with a huge save to deny him.

But, England managed to break the deadlock in the 38th minute when Jordan Henderson scored the goal. Jude Bellingham came up with the assist. After that, Harry Kane doubled the lead while Phil Foden assisted him. It was Harry Kane's first goal in this World Cup for England. With this goal, he also became the highest goal scorer for England in major tournaments. Thus, the first half ended 2-0.

In the second half, England made it 3-0 in the 57th minute. Bukayo Saka scored the goal while Phil Foden came up with another assist. It was a beautiful ball by Foden into the box which Saka managed to put into the goal. It was Saka's third goal in this tournament. After that, Senegal failed to create any significant chances and England hold the lead till the final whistle. Thus, the game ended 3-0 in favor of them and England qualified for the quarter-finals.
