FIFA World Cup 2022, Match 45 and 46, Group H: Uruguay knocked out despite 2-0 win, Portugal and South Korea qualify for Round of 16

Here is what happened in the last two matches of Group H in the ongoing FIFA World Cup on 2 December 2022 in Qatar

All four teams of Group H were in action on 2 December 2022 in the ongoing FIFA World Cup. Portugal already came to this clash after getting qualified for the next round in the last match. However, the rest of the teams also had a chance to get qualified for the Round of 16. Portugal took on South Korea in the Education City Stadium.

On the other hand, Uruguay took on Ghana in Al Janoub Stadium. So, the stage was set for a  great fight between the teams in order for the qualification. However, reports were that Cristiano Ronaldo might not play the match. But, fans got relieved as the Portuguese superstar started the game for his nation.

Portugal managed to take an early lead in the fifth minute only. Ricardo Horta scored the opener while Diogo Dalot assisted him. It was a beautiful ball for Horta as he finished the attempt successfully. In response to that, South Korea showed character. They came up with the equalizer in the 27th minute. Kim Young-gwon scored that vital goal.

Finally, the first half ended 1-1. In the second half, South Korea had a chance to take a lead in the 70th minute. Son managed a volley toward the goal. But, Cancelo's heroic block was enough to deny him. But, in the 90+1' minute, South Korea scored their second goal of the match. Hwang Hee-chan scored the goal while Son Heung-min gave the assist. Finally, the match ended 2-1 in favor of South Korea.   

Uruguay vs Ghana

Uruguay began the game with more control than Ghana. But, Ghana got a penalty in the 21st minute. But, Andre Ayew messed it up by failing to score it. In the 26th minute, Giorgian De Arrascaeta opened the scoring for Uruguay. Then, in the 32nd minute, Arrascaeta scored his brace. Luis Suarez provided the assist. 

Then, Ghana tried to pull one back before the first half. But, the first half ended 2-0. In the second half, Ghana had a chance in the 47th minute. Kudus Mohammed failed to convert a chance and lost the chance to get back a goal for his country. Uruguay had a penalty in the 58th minute. But, VAR checked it and denied the decision in favor of Uruguay. However, Uruguay won the match 2-0. But, it was not enough for them to get qualified for the next round.
