With the hosts Qatar losing to Ecuador in the very first match of the FIFA World Cup 2022 on November 20, Sunday, the campaign started off with huge expectations, albeit the opening match came as a disappointment for the supporters of the host nation.

As far as Monday is concerned, it was a triple header and the first match between England and Iran turned out to the best of all, with the likes of Bukayo Saka and young blood Jude Bellingham proving their prowess in the mighty competition.

As it stands, let us take a look at Day 2 reports:

1) England vs Iran (6-2)

With Jude Bellingham taking an early lead for England, the Three Lions carried on with the momentum against Iran, as Bukayo Saka grabbed a brace to his name and one of it came in the 62nd minute. While Raheem Sterling scored a goal at the stroke of the first half, Marcus Rashford and Jack Grealish scored one goal apiece in the second half, and England added six goals in total to their scoreline.

Iran’s goals came in the second half when Mehdi Taremi scored two goals, while one of it came towards the end of the match, making it impossible for Iran to make a comeback.

2) Senegal vs Netherlands (0-2)

Netherlands put on a mighty show in their campaign opener against Senegal as the team won with a scoreline of 0-2, proving their might. To add more to the match, Cody Gakpo provided hope for the Oranje towards the end of the match in the 84th minute.

Davy Klaassen bagged a goal to his name and eventually helped Netherlands take home the 2 points. The Oranje managed to reach the top of the rankings post their emphatic outing against Senegal in their campaign opener.

3) USA vs Wales (1-1)

The two teams from Group B put on a great show, with USA showing dominance right throughout the match. It was Timothy Weah who provided the lead for USA in the first half, in the 36th minute.

On the other hand, Wales matched the lead in the second half on the back of a penalty, well capitalised by Gareth Bale, in the 82nd minute. The match eventually ended in a draw and each team took a point home, providing a great finish to Day 2 of the event.
