2018 FIFA World Cup runners-up Croatia took on Canada in the second match of their campaign in the FIFA World Cup. Both teams played this match at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha. The match was a make-or-break for both teams to keep their hopes alive in the tournament.
Notably, Croatia was coming off with a draw in its first appearance during the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup. On the other hand, Canada lost their first match by a margin of one goal. Match started with the first whistle from referee Andres Matias and the young sensational Ghana-born Canadian center-back Alphonso Davies stunned with a goal on a brilliant header only in the second minute of the match. This amazing goal scored by Davies helped Canada to take the lead of 1-0 at the very beginning of the match.
But the 31-year-old experienced center-forward Andrej Kramaric managed to hit a brilliant equalizer for his team leveling the score with a scoreline of 1-1. This goal brought Croatia back into the game and Croatian center-forward Marko Livaja came up with an outstanding field goal in the 44th minute of the game.
This goal helped the Croatians to take a lead of 2-1 in the match and they managed to maintain this lead till half-time without making any mistakes.
Coming to the second half of the match, Andrej Kramarac who was completely in a different touch on the day, scored his second individual goal of the match in the 70th minute. Kramarac’s stunner helped Croatia to increase their lead from 2-1 to 3-1 against Canada.
In this additional time of the match after the end of 90-minute regulation time, Croatia’s attacking mid-fielder Lovro Majer assured the exit of the Canadian team from the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup.
