Apart from the opening match between Qatar and Ecuador, the remaining schedule of the world will stand the same. Senegal will lock horns with the Netherlands on the 21st of November, Monday. The reports have also learned that the hosts have changed the schedule to let Qatar play the first game.
The second match on the 21st November will be played between England vs Iran after the first match between Senegal vs the Netherlands.
The Schedule of FIFA changed due to the extreme weather of the middle east
Notably, the World Cup will be played in the middle of one of the biggest European tournaments English Premier League. As the EPL has been started already and it will go till the May of the next year 2023. The final of the FIFA World Cup will be played on the 17th of December at the Lusail Iconic Stadium.
The world cup of this year is different in comparison to the previous ones as it is starting right in the middle of the English Premier League for the first time in its history. It is because due to the fact that the weather in middle east countries will be extreme on those days.
In a recent development, German legend Philipp Lahm has decided to boycott the tournament, he has also talked about the reasons for the same:
“I’m not part of the delegation and I’m not keen on flying there as a fan. I prefer to follow the tournament from home. Human rights should play the biggest role in the awarding of a tournament. If a country is awarded the contract that is one of the worst performers in this regard, you start to think about the criteria used to make the decision. That shouldn’t happen again in the future. Human rights, sustainability, the size of the country, none of that seems to have played a role.”
