With 2023 now behind us, Counter Strike players have also bid farewell to one of the most popular instalments in the series, Counter Strike Global Offensive. However, there are players who will forever be known as legends in the game.
Here are the three players holding the legend title -
1. Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev
Popularly referred to as the GOAT of CS:GO, s1mple has been one of the most consistent players in Counter Strike. Over the last few years, he has managed to stay in the top three of the HLTV rankings.
The Ukrainian AWPer plays for Natus Vincere but has currently taken a break from competitive gaming after the release of Counter Strike 2 owing to the state of the game. However, he will always be one of the best players of CS:GO.
2. Nikola "NiKo" Kovač
G2’s main entry fragger, NiKo, is considered on par with s1mple by many. While not frequently on the AWP like his rivals, he is usually seen creating chaos in matches with Rifles clearing the enemy players to make way for his team.
While he was not lucky enough to win a major during his time in CS:GO, his track record and statistics speak for themselves. NiKo however, still plans to turn things around in CS2.
3. Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut
Young and talented, ZywOo became popular for his unique gameplay with his aggressive gameplay with AWP. His sniping skill is also considered on par with s1mple and many believe he may surpass the GOAT himself in the coming years.
At just 18, he won 4 different tournaments MVPs and is part of the French Counter Strike team “Vitality” the last ever CS:GO major where he was also crowned the MVP.
Some honourable mentions -
Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov - fan-favourite AWPer for G2
