'You'd expect this from them' - Wobbly Bangalore hold their nerves to clinch thriller

After a few high-scoring games, the fans were finally treated to a low-scoring thriller. Both teams were exceptional with the ball and at the same time, mediocre with the bat. The game went on till the last over as Bangalore mananged to win their first game of the Indian T20 League 2022. This win would certainly please their skipper Faf du Plessis.

After winning the toss and electing to bowl first, Bangalore's bowlers were superb with the new ball. Although Kolkata were getting the runs, they were regularly losing wickets as well. After the first six overs, the Shreyas Iyer-led side were 44-3.

The aggressive route didn't pay off for the batters as they recklessly threw their wickets. None of them tried to anchor the innings, and hold things from one end. Only Andre Russell was able to score more than 20 (25).

Kolkata were 101-9 and were seemingly set to be dismissed under 110. However, Umesh Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy put together a 27-run partnership. Thus, they ended up scoring 128 at the end of the first innings.

While the fans were expecting another one-sided contest, that wasn't to be as Kolkata's bowlers were breathing fire in the powerplay overs. In a matter of 13 balls, Bangalore lost three wickets. Their star batters Faf du Plessis and Virat were dismissed rather cheaply. Hence, the game then got interesting.

This was a test of temperament for both teams as it was Bangalore who managed to keep their calm. Sherfane Rutherford and Shabaz Ahmed put on a crucial 39-run partnership. After Ahmed's dismissal in the 16th over, Tim Southee backed it up by bowling a remarkable 18th over as it included two wickets. However, that wasn't enough as Bangalore managed to chase the total with four balls to spare. Twitter users were quick to react as they started to give their opinions on the game.
