Sarfaraz Khan, a young Mumbai cricketer, had a difficult week last week after failing to secure a spot for the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy despite scoring a lot of runs in the Ranji Trophy. The team for the first two Tests against Australia was chosen, but Sarfaraz's name was missing. This sparked outrage on social media, with his supporters blasting the Indian Cricket Board for passing up a promising talent.

In the meantime, Sarfaraz returned to take the field on Tuesday, scoring another century for Mumbai against Delhi in a Ranji Trophy match at the Feroz Shah Kotla. As a result, Twitterati demanded once more why he was dropped in the first place.

This was his third century of the season, and he spearheaded Mumbai's comeback from 110/5. Sarfaraz reached the landmark during the final session of the first day. Sarfaraz exploited the missed opportunities, as he was given two lifelines by Delhi wicketkeeper Anuj Rawat, who also missed a stumping opportunity just before the tea break.

Mumbai coach Amol Muzumdar gave Sarfaraz a standing ovation for his knock. Sarfaraz's ton was celebrated with a loud roar from the coach, followed by his signature slap of the thigh.

Sarfaraz has a fantastic domestic track record, having crossed the 900-run mark in consecutive seasons. He finished as the leading run-scorer in the previous edition, with a total of 982 runs from six matches. The cricketer was irritated by the rejection. He took to social media to highlight his clinical performances in First Class cricket and expressed his disappointment at failing to make the India squad.

Returning to the match, star opener Prithvi Shaw, who was recently recalled to the national squad, got Mumbai off to a good start after Delhi invited them to bat first at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Mumbai then lost a few early wickets but improved after being reduced to 66/4. However, with only 110 runs on the board, Mumbai had lost half of their team. Sarfaraz and Shams Mulani then aided Mumbai's recovery by putting on 144 runs for the sixth wicket.

Here is how Twitter reacted to Sarfaraz Khan's century
