Veteran Indian batter Robin Uthappa has finally hanged up his boots in all forms of cricket. The Coorg-born right-hander had an international career of almost 16 years and now he has decided to bid adieu from the game. He was known for his unique batting style when he used to come down the track and smash the renowned speedsters like he was playing against the arm bowlers.
On the day of his retirement, the whole Indian cricketing fraternity remembered the contributions of Uthappa to team India in the time when he appeared in international cricket. This list of his colleagues and friends included the likes of senior wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik and former veteran all-rounder Irfan Pathan.

Notably, Uthappa made his first international appearance for the Indian team 16 years back in the year 2006. He played the first ODI of his career against England in Indore. Speaking of his overall international career, then the 36-year-old played 57 international matches for India including 46 ODIs and 13 T20Is.
Batting in ODIs, Uthappa scored 934 runs with an average of 25.94 having six half-centuries to his name. Whereas, the senior batter scored 249 runs in 13 T20Is with an average of 24.90 with a half-century in his account.
Apart from his international cricket career, he also featured in 205 games in the Indian T20 League. In these matches, Uthappa scored 4952 runs with a fine average of 27.51 having 27 half-centuries to his credit.
Remembering his contributions to team India, veteran Indian spinner Amit Mishra recalled Uthappa’s capacity for hard-hitting with the bat and his immense work in the bowl-out against Pakistan in the second group match of India during the T20 World Cup 2007.
