Australia have announced their 15-member World Cup squad for the 2023 edition in India. The Kangaroos will be led by pace spearhead and captain Pat Cummins. The batting takes care of itself as David Warner and Travis Head who will likely open the batting. Recently reports surfaced that Mitchell Marsh could open the batting as well. The middle order will consist of Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell and others.
Marnus Labuschagne could not make the cut. Even Tim David who amazed everyone with his big-hitting exploits in the recent T20I series against South Africa could not get a look in. Sean Abbott will be the backup pace bowling option to Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc. When it comes to the spin department, Ashton Agar will bring his left-arm spin and also bat lower down the order. Adam Zampa will also play a big role in Indian conditions with his leg-spin.
When it comes to wicketkeepers, Alex Carey will be the frontline option. The Kangaroos also have a backup option in terms of Josh Inglis who can also bat at the top if required. The keeper-batter primarily bats at the top of the order in the Big Bash League (BBL). Carey made 375 runs in 10 matches in the 2019 World Cup and also hit three half-centuries.
"Pat Cummins, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc and Glenn Maxwell are on track in their return to play programs. All are well placed to come back online in the coming weeks and potentially for selection in the upcoming series against India," Chairman of selectors George Bailey said as per NDTV.
"There are eight one-day matches still to play in South Africa and India before the final squad is due to be declared. They are followed by two World Cup practice games, which offers plenty of opportunity to continue the build for the tournament." Bailey further added.
Here is Australia's 15-member World Cup squad:
Pat Cummins (c), Steve Smith, Alex Carey, Josh Inglis, Sean Abbott, Ashton Agar, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Mitch Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, David Warner, Adam Zampa, Mitchell Starc.

Batsman 🔥Marsh,Warner,Smith, Maxwell, Stoinis,green,Alex,Agar
Starc, Hazlewood,Cummins
They will need an answer to what would be their XI. They have Marsh, Stoinis, Green and Maxwell. I think they will play 3 out them. They also need to figure out their opening combination. Is it Warner+Marsh or Warner+Head or from the rarest circumstances Marsh+Head.
