On 20 May 2023, Delhi Capitals (DC) took on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the ongoing IPL. However, CSK were looking for a win in this clash to seal their place in the playoffs. While DC were looking to spoil their chances. Speaking of the match, MS Dhoni won the toss, and seeing that, the Delhi crowd went berserk.

The cheer for the CSK skipper was so loud that Danny Morrison was not able to ask about the decision from Dhoni. Hence, he decided to ask him by doing some unique gestures. In reply to that, Dhoni also came up with a gesture that confirmed that CSK opted to bat first against David Warner and his men.

After the toss, Dhoni said: “We will bat. We've been trying to win games right from the first game. We're playing the same XI, it's a balanced eleven and we don't need to make many changes. Day game, the pitch will also slow down as the match progresses, that's the reason we wanted to bat first. In a tournament like this, we'll have good and bad games, need to take the learnings from every game and that's want I want the youngsters in the team to learn.”

While Warner said: “It's about consistency, we haven't settled in home conditions, but today is another chance. The match-ups work - Lalit Yadav comes in, so does Sakariya. Ishant goes out. We will have to start afresh here after that convincing win in Dharamsala.”

But, CSK openers gave a solid start to the team as they reached 140 runs in 14 overs without losing any wickets. Ruturaj Gaikwad was batting at 79* runs off 48 balls while Devn Conway was batting at 59* runs off 36 balls. Finally, their first wicket fell on 141 runs as Gaikwad scored 79 runs off 50 balls.
