On 14 April 2023, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) locked horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the ongoing IPL. Nitish Rana and his men were looking for a win in front of the home crowd while SRH were also looking for their second consecutive win. Speaking of the match, Rana won the toss and opted to bowl first.

SRH batted first and put up a mammoth score of 228 runs on the board for four wickets in 20 overs. Harry Brook stole the show as he smashed the first century of this ongoing season. But, during the chase, Rana smashed the Indian pacer Umran Malik for 28 runs in an over. Seeing such brutal hitting, fans went crazy and they slammed the bowler on social media.

Speaking of that over, it was the sixth over of KKR’s innings. KKR skipper Nitish Rana was batting and Umran Malik came up to bowl. On the first delivery, Rana hit a lucky four as the ball went over the short fine through a top edge. Then, he pulled the second ball for a six. After that, Rana hit three consecutive fours. On the last delivery of that over, Rana smashed another six and Umran Malik went for 28 runs in his first over.

Speaking about the form of Umran Malik, he took four wickets in the first three matches for SRH in IPL 2023. So, fans were in shock to see him getting bashed by Nitish Rana in that over. Raw pace has always been the main thing for him. But, Rana used that to his advantage and scored those runs. Some fans also claimed that it was a wrong decision from SRH skipper Aiden Markram as he sent Malik to bowl in powerplay overs. While some fans slammed the bowler for not maintaining proper line and length while bowling with such a high pace.
