He was the skipper for the franchise and in 2022, Samson led that team to the final. However, they lost against Gujarat Titans (GT). So, a better 2023 IPL was expected from the team. But, both as a skipper and batter, it was a disappointing season for Samson. RR finished in the fifth spot with 14 points in 14 games. Samson scored only 362 runs in 14 games, at an average of 30.17 and a strike rate of 153.39. He smashed three fifties in the tournament.

Now, ahead of the tour, Samson shared an image on his Instagram account where he was seen posing with the former New Zealand pacer, Shane Bond and the former West Indies batter, Brian Lara. He shared the image with the caption: “Surely in some Great company !! @greetingsravi”. Seeing that image, fans shared their views on social media. Speaking about Samson’s career, he has played 11 ODIs so far. In 10 innings, he has scored 330 runs, at an average of 66 and a strike rate of 104.76, including two fifties only. But, he has scored 301 runs in 16 T20I innings, at an average of 20.06 and a strike rate of 133.77, including one fifty only. So, it will be a huge opportunity for him while keeping an eye on the upcoming ODI World Cup later this year in India.
