Speaking of the match, Delhi batted first and scored 162 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Gujarat chased down the target in 18.1 overs with six wickets in hand. Sai Sudharsan won the Player of the Match award for scoring 62* runs off 48 balls, including four fours and two sixes. After the match, David Warner said that losing wickets in the powerplay has been a struggle for them.

“It swung more than I anticipated. Losing wickets in the powerplay can be a struggle. They showed us how to adapt to the situation and it was a learning experience for us. We have got six more games here and anticipate the swing upfront. They bowled extremely well. We were in the game but Sai batted extremely well and David Miller took it away,” the Delhi skipper said in the post-match presentation.

Warner also explained the reason for not using Axar Patel’s bowling. He said: "Just purely because of the wicket and the match-ups. We thought Kuldeep would be effective and we had Mitch Marsh". Now, Delhi will be in action again against Rajasthan on 8 April 2023.
