Pakistan vs New Zealand

Pakistan and New Zealand locked horns in the recently concluded three-match ODI series at the National Stadium in Karachi. The hosts started the series with a convincing victory of six wickets against the Kiwis. But the latter managed to outplay the men in green last two matches of the series and clinched the series by a margin of 2-1.

Notably, it is also the first-ever win in an ODI series for the Blackcaps in Pakistan. Star batter Glenn Phillips played a match-defining knock in the series decider as he scored 63 off 42 balls to cross the finishing line for his team.

Meanwhile, former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt has come very hard on the Pak pacers and their intent after the team lost the series even with a lead of 1-0.

Butt mocked the Pakistan speedsters and said they have deposited their speed pace in a bank because they weren’t seen putting any effort into an all-important match against New Zealand.

Neither did you bowl bouncer nor did you bowl a yorker - Salman Butt

“I'm most disappointed with the Pakistan bowlers. What were they doing? Ye speed kya bank me jama karaani hai? (Do you have to deposit the speed in the bank?) Neither did you bowl bouncer nor did you bowl a yorker. The batter smashed you for midwicket and front of the square towards six. No yorkers, no bouncers! At one point, I think Haris Rauf bowled 10 slower balls in his two overs,” said Butt in a video on his YouTube channel.

“You are a genuine pacer. You bowl fast. Where is your speed? Why didn't you bowl a yorker? Even if you had missed a yorker, it's not easy to smash a lower full toss for a six,” he added later.

Now, speaking of any international series, Pakistan will lock horns with New Zealand in a five-match T20I series starting from the 13th of April later this year. On this tour, New Zealand will also take on the men in green in a five-match ODI series.
