Harbhajan Singh has lashed out at former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq for spreading fake claims about him. In a video that went viral on social media, Inzamam was heard saying that the former India spinner was close to converting his religion from Sikhism to Islam. Harbhajan lost his cool and took to his X platform to share a strongly-worded tweet against Inzamam.

The former chief selector of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed that Indian players like Irfan Pathan, Zaheer Khan and Mohammad Kaif will join Pakistan players during Namaz. He added that Harbhajan was impressed by the words of Maulana Tariq Jameel (preacher) and used to listen to them often.

“Maulana Tariq Jameel used to visit us every day. We had a room for Namaz. Following the prayers, he would talk to us. After a day or two, we invited Irfan Pathan, Zaheer Khan, and Mohammad Kaif for prayers. I noticed that 2-3 more Indian players also used to join; they won’t say the prayers but used to listen to the Maulana,” Inzamam said in the video.

“Harbhajan once told me, ‘My heart says that I should agree to whatever he (Maulana) says’. I said, ‘Then follow him. What is stopping you?’ Then, he replied, ‘I see you and then I stop. Your life isn’t like that. So, it is us who are not following our religion. We are to be blamed,” he further said.

Harbhajan was visibly angry with Inzamam's false claims 

The Turbanator then took to social media to clarify that his claims were fake. Harbhajan slammed Inzamam and said he is proud to be an Indian and a proud sikh.

"Yeh kon sa nasha pee kar baat kar raha hai ? I am a proud Indian and proud Sikh..yeh Bakwaas log kuch bi bakte hai," Bhaji tweeted.

Meanwhile, Inzamam recently stepped down as Pakistan's chief selector amid his national team's disappointing 2023 ODI World Cup campaign. “Pakistan Cricket Board has accepted Inzamam-ul-Haq’s resignation as the chairman of the national men’s selection committee and junior selection committee and will announce his replacement in due course,” PCB said in a media statement.
