Earlier, after winning the toss, CLS skipper Niroshan Dickwella opted to bowl first. His decision didn't go well with the team, as DMA skipper Mendis and Sadera Samrawickrama added 120 runs for the second wicket. Mendis, in his innings, scored 87 runs off 46 balls with the help of four fours and eight sixes.

On the other hand, Samrawickrama scored 59 runs off 35 balls with the help of seven fours and a six. However, both failed to score their well-deserved centuries, especially Mendis. With their amazing performance, DMA posted 192/5 in 20 overs. For CLS, Naseem Shah clinched two wickets, while Maheesha Pathirna took three wickets.

Babar Azam failed to win it for the Colombo Strikers. Chasing 193, CLS needed a fiery start, which they got in the powerplay. Opener Babar Azam, along with Pathum Nisannka, added 62 runs for the second wicket in 44 deliveries. Babar, in his innings, scored 41 runs off 24 balls with the help of seven fours. However, he fell short of his well-deserved half-century as Nisannka was building pressure from the opposite side.
