Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by seven wickets in the 28th match of the Indian Premier League on Friday, April 21. This is CSK's fourth win this season and the way to play the playoffs for them is also becoming easier as they are sitting on the 3rd position in the points table. But they have suffered a huge blow as star all-rounder Ben Stokes is unlikely to play in the next few matches.

CSK head coach Stephen Fleming claimed that he is not fully fit. According to the report of Times of India, it will take one more week for him to be fully fit. And it is expected that the left-hander will not be able to be a part of CSK's playing 11 for at least two more matches.

Stokes was bought by the four-time champions at a whopping price of INR 16.25 crore. The purchase does not appear to be helpful to CSK, though. He has only made 2 appearances for the franchise, thus far, this season.

In these two games, Stokes' bat malfunctioned, limiting him to just 15 runs. Due to injury, Stokes has also kept away from bowling.

Getting him fit is our top priority: Stephen Fleming

After winning the clash against SRH, Fleming talked about Stokes and said that the latter will be out of action for at least a week, however, this won't affect the team as they already playing well. The former New Zealand cricketer also added the franchise is making sure that fitness remains as the top priority for any cricketer in the squad.

“Stokes experienced a minor setback yesterday, so he will likely be out for a few days or a week. Despite the difficulty, the squad is performing well. The primary requirement is that he be healthy, and if we run into problems with selection, that's just how the IPL works. Getting him fit is our top priority. He's not quite ready yet, but as soon as he is, we'll worry about the following section.." Fleming said in the post-match press conference after CSK vs SRH.
