Deepak Chahar is currently busy playing for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the ongoing IPL. On 28 May, CSK will take on Gujarat Titans (GT) in the final at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Now, ahead of the mega clash, the star CSK pacer shared a story regarding him proposing to his wife during IPL 2021 with the help of advice from MS Dhoni.

While speaking to Gaurav Kapur in the latest episode of Breakfast with Champions, Chahar said: "I wanted to propose to her after the Final, but MS Dhoni told me to do it before the Qualifiers so I can maintain my focus on the matches". Listening to such a statement, fans went crazy and shared their views.

Deepak Chahar has taken 12 wickets in nine matches in IPL 2023

Speaking of the incident, it happened during the Indian T20 League 2021. Deepak Chahar was playing for CSK against PBKS. After the match, he went to the stands as his girlfriend Jaya Bhardwaj was sitting along with other Chennai players’ wives and girlfriends there. So, Deepak got down on one knee and proposed to her. Jaya also said ‘yes’ and thus they got engaged. Deepak missed the entire IPL 2022 due to injury.

A source from the team also said: “Deepak wanted to do this during the playoffs as he thought it was a good moment considering they are important games. But it was skipper MS Dhoni who advised him not to wait for the perfect moment and go for it after yesterday's game itself." Meanwhile, they both got married also on 1 June 2022. Speaking of performance, this season also, Chahar has faced injury issues. Still, he has managed to take 12 wickets in nine matches, at an economy of 8.63. His best figure came against Delhi Capitals (DC) with a figure of three wickets for 22 runs. Now, fans will hope to see him performing well against GT in the final.
