The first T20 between Ireland and India didn't start well as it was interrupted by rain. The rain arrived after the toss when the stand-in India skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected to bowl first. The game couldn't start on time as it was delayed for a little less than two hours.

Finally, when the rain went away, it was decided that the game will be played with 12-over-per-side. Three bowlers were allowed to bowl two overs each and two bowlers can bowl three. The powerplay was for the first four overs. The Men In Blue had a great start with the ball. Bhuvneshwar Kumar cleaned up opposition skipper Andrew Balbirnie (0) in the first over.

Paul Stirling followed in the next over as he was caught at mid-off by Deepak Hooda off Pandya. Gareth Delany struggled during his nine-ball eight before he was caught behind by Dinesh Karthik off Avesh Khan. At 22/3, the hosts were in deep trouble. However, they were able to pull themselves up, thanks to Harry Tector's unbeaten 64 off 33 balls. He took the team's total to 108/4.

Logan Tucker (18) also played a handy cameo. For the visitors, Pandya, Kumar, Khan and Yuzvendra Chahal took one wicket each. In reply, the Hardik Pandya-led side had a great start as Ishan Kishan and Deepak Hooda stitched a 30-run partnership in just 2.4 overs. However, Kishan was clean up by Craig Young after playing a great 11-ball 26-run cameo. The very next ball, Yadav was trapped lbw.
