Pakistan had a miserable run in the World Test Championship and failed to secure a spot in the top 5. Led by Babar Azam, Pakistan could only register wins in four of the 12 games and ended the competition with 43.3% points at sixth place. The Pakistan cricket team will be looking forward to an improved show in the next WTC cycle. Many feel that Pakistan can qualify for the next WTC final as their overseas tours are against weaker oppositions. They have always been very good in home conditions. Here is a look at Pakistan’s complete schedule for the 2021-23 WTC cycle.
Pakistan tour of West Indies
Pakistan will open their World Test Championship 2 campaign against West Indies in August. The teams will cross swords in two-Test series. The first Test will be played between August 12-16 in Jamaica while the second Test will get underway from August 20-24 at the same venue.
Pakistan tour of Bangladesh
Post the ICC T20 World Cup, Pakistan will travel to Bangladesh for a two-match Test series. The series is likely to take place in November.
Australia tour of Pakistan
Babar Azam led side will then host Australia in the first quarter of 2022. The three-Test series is scheduled to take place in Pakistan. However, if Australia has any objections, it can also be played in UAE.
Pakistan tour of Sri Lanka
Pakistan will play their final away series against Sri Lanka. The two-match Test series is set to take place in July-August 2022. Sri Lanka is going through a rough phase and hasn’t looked threatening at all. Pakistan would definitely feel confident against a bleak host.
New Zealand tour of Pakistan
New Zealand will also tour Pakistan for two-match Test series. The series is likely to be played in November 2022.
England tour of Pakistan
Pakistan will conclude its WTC cycle with a three-match Test series against England.
