Women’s Indian T20 League to begin next year- Reports

It has been understood that India's Cricketing Governing Body is planning to conduct Women's India’s T20 League from next year.

Over the last few years, a lot of times, fans and big cricketing personalities have raised their voices on the prospect starting the Women’s Indian T20 League. India’s Cricketing Governing Body has often been criticized for being tight-lipped over conducting the tournament.

However, as per recent reports, it has now been understood that board is planning to conduct Women's India’s T20 League. The tournament is likely to begin next year. However, nothing has been announced officially as of now.

A top official from the board recently revealed that the it is planning to conduct a six-team tournament from next year.

"We have already started working on the plan as to how many teams we can have and what window is going to suit, because we have the men's IPL as well," the official said.

"As of now, we can't share many details but yes, we are really excited for this league. Some franchises have already shown interest and are very keen to be part of this tournament. We are planning to have 6 teams to start with. Our team is working on the auction process and other important aspects of the tournament," the official added.

Furthermore, it has been learned that the board is contemplating on important tasks such as auction process, teams etc. An official announcement will be made once all the important decisions will be discussed properly in the meeting.

"As of now, everything is just on paper. It will take time to streamline everything as there are many aspects that need to be taken care of - proper planning, auctions, teams etc etc.

"But yes we might start the women's IPL in the summer, but again its completely tentative as of now.

"Once everything is discussed, the board will make an official announcement. The matter will also be discussed at the AGM to stamp it."
