This pitch need to be given bad rating, as batters were never really came into game in this match. They always criticize when sub-continent pitches are turners, but this wasn't a test match pitch either and getting a result in 2 days proved that. #AUSvSA #Pitch #gabba #KG

I don't agree with everyone calling for Warner's head. Easily one of our best ever test openers and has earned the right to go out on his own terms. Tough to judge batsman on this minefield of a pitch too obviously #AUSvSA

Speaking of the entire action of the match in the first two days, the hosts' skipper Pat Cummins won the flip of the coin and asked the Proteas team to bat first. Batting first, the Australian bowling duo of senior bowlers, Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon scalped a total of six wickets collectively. Other than these Starc and Lyon, skipper Pat Cummins and pacer Scott Boland also claimed two wickets each to bundle up South Africa only on the score of 152 runs.
Australia could manage to post a total of only 218 runs in their first innings, thanks to the 92-run knock from Travis Head supported by former skipper Steve Smith who contributed 36 runs. Senior South African pacer Kagiso Rabada scalped four wickets in the first inning alongside three wickets claimed by Marco Jansen.
Talking about the second innings of the match, the South African side bundled up only the double-digit score of 99 runs and they could post a target of only 34 runs to Australia in the fourth innings of the match.
Although star pacer Kagiso Rabada made it very hard for Australia to chase the target of 34 runs easily and he scalped four wickets individually.
But eventually, the hosts won the match by six wickets, courtesy of the uneven bounce and below-average surface of the Brisbane Cricket Ground.
