Chennai lost their opening encounter to Kolkata on Saturday. Despite all the hype, the Shreyas Iyer-led side were able to defeat the defending champions rather comfortably. The yellow army had a batting collapse.

Yet, the fans weren't expecting them to make too many changes as Chennai generally believes in backing their players. Chennai's management have always been vocal about sticking with their team combination irrespective of a win or loss. However, everyone were shocked when Chennai's captain Ravindra Jadeja announced that they have three changes in their XI from the previous game.
One of them happened to be that of Devon Conway, Who was dropped. The fact that Chennai are facing Lucknow with just three overseas players makes this decision even more baffling. Conway has arguably been one of the best T20I batters in the recent past. He has scored 602 runs in 17 T20Is at an average of 50.17
This includes four fifties. Besides he has a whopping strike rate of 139.35 as well. Moreover, Chennai always gives a long run to their overseas openers. Be it Dwayne Smith, Michael Hussey or Shane Watson, all of them have been backed by the four-time champions. Hence, Conway getting dropped after just one bad came as an absolute shocker to the fans.
Fans took to Twitter to express their disappointment over the same. They spoke about how he was supposed to be the next big thing for Chennai. Another important point to be noted is that most of the batters failed during the previous game, but it was only Conway who faced the axe. Nevertheless, Moeen Ali returned to Chennai's XI. The Jadeja-led side would want to get to their first win of this edition, and beat Kolkata.
