Why is Aryan Juyal keeping for Mumbai Indians instead of Ishan Kishan?

In an interesting turn of events, Aryan Juyal has come out to keep wickets for Mumbai despite not being part of the playing XI. The incident happened during the ongoing game between Delhi and Mumbai in the Indian T20 League 2022. Ishan Kishan was included in the playing XI as the wicketkeeper-batter. Kishan played explosive innings of unbeaten 81 runs in just 48 balls, including 11 fours and two sixes.

During the innings, he was struck on the toe on the first ball of the 18th over. The over was bowled by Axar Patel. The left-arm slow bowler bowled a dipping low full toss to Kishan. The left-hander was hit on the toes. However, he kept playing for the team and helped them post a total of 177/5. After the innings, the Jharkhand player went for the scans.

The fans of the team and teammates must be hoping that the injury is not too serious. In his absence, Aryan Juyal has taken the responsibility of keeping the wickets for his side. Currently, the Delhi team has started the chase and have amassed 46/3 in 6 overs, with Murugan Ashwin picking two wickets in the over.

Ashwin picked the wickets of Tim Siefert (21) and Mandeep Singh (0). Rishabh Pant was dismissed for 1 off the bowling of Tymal Mills. Talking about Mumbai's innings, the team got off to a great start with openers Kishan and skipper Rohit Sharma (41) stitching a partnership of 67 runs. Debutant Tilak Varma scored a brisk 22 off 15 balls. For the Rishabh Pant-led side, Kuldeep Yadav took three wickets in his first game for the team. On the other hand, Khaleel Ahmed took two wickets.
