In reply, Bangladesh also impressed one and all with their batting performance. They went on to score 465 runs before declaring. Tamim Iqbal and M Hasan Joy set the tone with a brilliant 162-run partnership. The former went on to score a century, while Mushfiqur Rahim also played a sensational knock of 105 runs in 282 balls, an innings which only had 1 four.
Liton Das also made a valuable contribution as he scored 88 runs in 189 balls. Bangladesh, eventually, declared their innings after notching 465 runs. However, the scorecard read: 465-d.

The ninth Bangladeshi wicket fell in the 170th over. At that stage, Bangladesh had scored 465 runs before declaring their innings. The scoreboard read 465d, however, the last wicket never fell. For the unversed, Shoriful Islam got injured while batting during the end of their innings and was eventually retired hurt, which means that Bangladesh had to declare their innings at 465. Sri Lanka are currently batting in the third innings. They have lost two wickets for 39 runs and are trailing by 29 runs.
