Gujarat went high for Abhinav Sadarangani, an uncapped player, for a price of 2.6 crores in the ongoing mega auction. While he is not known at a bigger level, Sadarangani has become a good option in the Karnataka domestic team. He made his debut for the state team at the age of 27 years.
He got the chance to represent his state team while Mayank Agarwal and Devdutt Padikkal were unavailable for selection in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021. Playing for Bangalore United Cricket Club in the Karnataka Premier League, he had good performances which earned him a spot in the state team. He scored 70 off 49 balls on his debut, hitting 2 fours and 6 sixes.
Speaking about his debut, he said, "It was a dream debut and it started off when I got my cap from Manish Pandeybecause I was hoping I would get it from him. To be honest, I was very nervous when we went out to the field, but I was calm when it was my turn to bat because I had nothing to lose but everything to gain. I'm just happy that things panned out well for me on the day."
Sadarangani played a good knock against Saurashtra and looked sorted in his head. He took a step back against the experienced Jaydev Unadkat and went after the spinners. The Karnataka batter had a dream debut He will now get a chance to play along with the likes of Hardik Pandya and Jason Roy. The international players can surely help grow in his game. The Gujarat team had a good day one in the auction and will look to an even better day two.
