'What's my legacy is up to you all to judge' - Sourav Ganguly on tenure as BCCI president

Sourav Ganguly mentioned that he had to face several challenges as the BCCI president due to the global pandemic

Sourav Ganguly was formally elected as the BCCI president in October 2019. However, most of his reign coincided with the COVID-19 pandemic. Yet, there were a few instances where his way of functioning as the president was questioned.

The most noticeable instance being the captaincy saga, which saw him and Virat Kohli have contrasting things to say, and the two were seemingly not on the same page.

However, Ganguly is still not ready to judge his tenure as the president of the board and has left it to the public to evaluate his time with the BCCI. While speaking to Sportstar, the 49-year-old mentioned that he had to face several challenges due to the global pandemic. However, he was satisfied with the fact that were able to conduct most of the games.

“What’s my legacy? Well, I won’t be able to tell it now. Let’s see what happens. It is up to you all to judge my legacy, it is what it is. But it has been under tough circumstances due to Covid-19 over the last two years. The pandemic has wreaked havoc all over the world and we are fortunate that we could still manage to get a majority of cricket done," said Sourav Ganguly

The former Indian captain then spoke about how several legends have teamed up together to build the future of Indian cricket. VVS Laxman is currently leading the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Ganguly then spoke about the new NCA facility which is being built.

“We have put everything in place. Laxman and Rahul work together. There are coaches who work alongside them. The U-19 coaches, too, work with the NCA and some of them are currently with the team in the World Cup. The new NCA facility is being built, the construction will start probably this month. It will take 18 months to finish. Everything has been put in place," he said.
