India started their World Cup campaign on a winning note as they beat Pakistan by 107 runs. India entered into the game with a hundred per cent record against Pakistan. The Mithali Raj-led side won the toss and elected to bat first in the high-stake game. They had a poor start as they lost the wicket of opening batter Shafali Verma (0) at the end of the third over against Diana Baig.

Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma (40) stitched a partnership of 88 runs before the latter was dismissed by left-arm spinner Nashra Sandhu with the scorecard reading 92/2. The wicket triggered a collapse as Mandhana (52) was caught and bowled by Anam Amin. The two-time finalists lost three more wickets in the form of Harmapreet Kaur (5), wicketkeeper batter Richa Ghosh (1), and skipper Mithali Raj (9) and were tottering at 114/6.

However, the partnership of 122 runs between Pooja Vastrakar (67) and Sneh Rana (53*) ensured the team amassed a fighting total of 244/7. For the Bismah Maroof-led side, Nashra Sandhu and Nida Dar took two wickets each while Diana Baig, Anam Amin, and Fatima Sana took one each. In reply, Pakistan had a slow start as they could only muster 26 runs in the powerplay even when they didn't lose a wicket.

In the 11th over, left-arm spinner Rajeshwari Gayakwad struck with the wicket of Javeria Khan. The innings never got going as they kept losing wickets in clusters. Sidra Ameen (30) was the top scorer for the side but couldn't go big. The team was restricted to 137 all-out with Gayakwad taking four wickets. On the other hand, Jhulan Goswami and Sneh Rana took two each while Deepti Sharma and Meghna Singh took one each. India won the game by 107 runs and has kept their winning streak against arch-rivals alive.
