Jamaica Tallawahs and Saint Lucia Kings locked horns in match 9 of the Caribbean Premier League at Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, St Lucia. The surface is known for its slowness and can get tricky in the second innings. The Kings' captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and elected to field first. It was a sensible decision if one takes a glimpse at the history of the pitch and it more or less paid off.

It was a one-man show for the Tallawahs as the top 4 crumbled for cheap scores. The team that came into the game unbeaten looked like they were facing a defeat right from the start. Brandon king and Kennar Lewis couldn't hold on to more than 17 and 15 balls. This was a crucial game for Saint Lucia Kings led by Faf du Plessis who needed a win to make a move on.

Scott Kuggeleijn and David Wiese were all over the Tallawahs' batters as the former bagged a three-for. The South African, on the other hand, managed to bag a two-for to his name. Jamaica Tallawahs ended up with 163 at the end of the first innings.

Saint Lucia Kings collapsed right from the start. Skipper Faf du Plessis, Ackeem Auguste, Niroshan Dickwella, and Tim David got out in quick succession. A win here might make it easy for the Kings to make it to the next round and they worked hard for the same. Out of the two matches that the Kings have played until match 9, they have lost one and won one.

Johnson Charles was awaiting the right time to switch gears from the other end. The batter then put on a stellar show as he amassed 62 runs off just 39 balls before Raymon Reifer removed him. His innings paved the way for the Kings to make a comeback into the game after an early collapse. The Faf du Plessis-led men ended up winning the match in the last-over thriller by two wickets.
