India and Netherlands clashed in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 on October 27, Thursday and the match turned out to be one-sided as one could expect. However, there were many positives to take out for team India from the game and one of them was Virat Kohli’s back to back fifties.
After choosing to bat first, the Indian opener and skipper Rohit Sharma led the team from the front and eventually managed to reach the fifty-run landmark. However, it was not that easy for team India as KL Rahul, who opened the innings along with the captain, perished for just 9 runs.
Kohli and Rohit joined hands to clear the team off the labyrinth and put on a partnership of 73 runs for the 2nd wicket. Once Rohit departed, Suryakumar Yadav, who joined the Indian giant in the middle, scored 51 runs and powered the Men in Blue to a massive total of 179 runs.

Netherlands, on the other hand, got off to a subpar start as they lost the wickets of Vikramjit Singh and Max ODowd within the powerplay for cheap scores of 1 and 16 respectively. Not able to withstand the wrath of Indian bowlers Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Axar Patel, the team led by Scott Edwards starting crumbling like a pack of cards post the end of the field restrictions.
Eventually, Netherlands fell short of the target by 57 runs and the Men in Blue climbed to the top of the Group 2 points table with 2 wins from 2 matches. The Indian skipper Rohit said that the team have moved on from Pakistan’s win and added that they need to focus on the upcoming games next. Further, the right-handed batter admitted to India’s slow start with the bat early in the innings.
“Lucky for us, we had a few days to get over that special win. As soon as the game got over, we came to Sydney and regrouped. We have to move on now, and the focus was on this game where we wanted to come out and get those two points. I thought it was a clinical win. Looking at the way they have qualified for the Super 12s, credit to them,” Rohit said after the match in the post-match interview.
“To be honest, this was a near perfect win. Yes, we played a little slow at the start but that was the conversation between me and Virat, we had to wait on that surface to play the big shots. Not too happy with my fifty,” said the batter further.

A powerful display of batting by Rohit, Kohli and the superstar Surya. All depends on the line & length of our bowlers now. India should look to restrict Netherlands under 130 runs. #INDvsNED pic.twitter.com/Ln3i25dQCI
