Indian skipper Virat Kohli took to Instagram to applaud the efforts of the Indian athletes, who won seven medals in the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Neeraj Chopra bagged the elite gold medal and joined Abhinav Bindra to be the second sportsperson from India to do so in the individual category.
Apart from Chopra, Mirabai Chanu (Silver), PV Sindhu (Bronze), Ravi Kumar Dahiya (Silver), Bajrang Punia (Bronze), Lovlina Borgohain (Bronze) and the Indian Men’s hockey team (Bronze) won medals. It was the best performance for India in Olympics with several players stepping up and showing their class. If Chopra was brilliant with his throws in Javelin, then Dahiya too displayed grit and determination against all his opponents in the wrestling category.
The Men’s Hockey team too won a bronze medal after 41 years and brought national glory. Kohli lauded the efforts of all the winners and posted a tweet on his official Twitter as well as Instagram account.
"Congratulations to all our winners and participants at the Olympics. Winning and losing is a part of the sport, but what matters is you gave your best for the nation. We are so proud of you and, I wish you all the very best going forward. Jai Hind," Kohli tweeted.
"Very well done to all our athletes from various fields. They went out there and gave their best. Special mention to @Neeraj_chopra1. You all have made the nation proud," Rohit also lauded the efforts of the Olympic contingent in a tweet tweeted.
The Olympics finished on Sunday with a breathtaking closing ceremony.
