Former England opener Geoffrey Boycott is known for his outspoken behaviour. He’s often been criticized for the same but he never tries to mince his words when talking about something. It was in India’s tour to England in 2014 when Boycott openly criticized Gautam Gambhir by calling him “rubbish” on-air even before the southpaw faced his first delivery in the final Test at the Oval.
Facing his first delivery, Gambhir was caught in two minds and ended up getting a thick edge to the wicketkeeper Jos Buttler off the bowling of James Anderson. Post his dismissal, Boycott, who was commentating at that time slammed Gambhir by saying “He is rubbish isn't he, I told ya. He can’t bat in England."

Gambhir was roped in as a replacement to Shikhar Dhawan for the final two Tests of the 5 Test series. He, however, failed to make an impact and could only manage 25 runs in the two Tests as England trounced India 4-0. Gambhir has a miserable record in England and averages a paltry 13.77 in the 5 Tests.
