It is sometimes funny to hear foreign cricketers pronounce Asian names. Some letters don't fit on their tongue and it becomes funny when they pronounce them. Knowing this, legendary cricketer Wasim Akram decided to have some hilarious conversations in the commentary box during the third and final Test between Pakistan and Australia.
A video of the former Pakistan pacer having a hilarious interaction with fellow commentators over their difficulty in pronouncing the letter 'K' has gone viral on social media. Akram was part of the commentary panel for the recently concluded three-match Test series, which Australia won 3-0. While the players are engaged in an intense battle on the field, Akram and Co. decided to have some light moments.
'The Sultan of Swing' can be seen trolling Australian commentators for failing to pronounce the name 'Fakhar' properly. Akram was heard saying, “There’s another name you guys mess up as well. Try to pronounce Fakhar.” The question from one of the greatest fast bowlers of all time left the commentary box in splits.
He then recounted an incident with his wife, Shaniera, in which the Pakistan-based Australian social worker also found it difficult to pronounce 'Fakhar'.
“So Shaniera came to Pakistan and my son’s friend’s name was Fakhar. He brought his friend who was about 12-year-old and he said, ‘This is my friend, Fakhar’. She said, ‘Hang on a minute’. Because Australians can’t pronounce K in their language, it took her about two years to pronounce his name.”
