The crucial Super 4 clash between India and Sri Lanka in Asia Cup got underway on Tuesday at Dubai. Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka won the important toss and invited India to bat first. The Indian team got off to a miserable start as KL Rahul once again failed to score big and got dismissed on 6.
Rahul’s dismissal brought Virat Kohli to the crease who has been in great form in the Asia Cup so far. India desperately needed another Kohli special knock to take them out of trouble. However, much to the dismay of Indian fans, the star batter failed to trouble the scorers as he was clean bowled by Dilshan Madushanka in the third over.
Kohli went for a wild slog after playing the first three dot balls in the over and missed the ball completely losing his stumps in the process. Madushanka was seen jubilantly running towards his teammates in celebration of the big scalp.

The Indian team got off to the worst possible start and the rebuilding job was done by captain Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav. The ongoing match against Sri Lanka is a knockout fixture for team India as a loss in this game would shatter their dream of clinching the Asia Cup title. Sri Lanka are riding high on confidence after their emphatic win against Afghanistan in the last game.
Sri Lanka even chased down 184 against Bangladesh to qualify for the Super 4 stage of the tournament. The comments of the Bangladesh coach who said that there are no world-class bowlers in Sri Lanka seemed to have inspired the team to make big statements with their performance.
On the other hand, India have made their road to the final tougher after their loss to the arch-rivals Pakistan on Sunday. They will now have to win their remaining two games against Sri Lanka and Afghanistan to remain in contention for a place in the final.
