It wouldn't be an overstatement to say that Dinesh Karthik is currently in the form of his life. The ongoing Indian T20 league 2022 has seen him score boundaries for fun. As a matter of fact, he has played the role of a finisher to perfection. The keeper-batter has already played several impactful cameos in this edition.
So far, Karthik has scored 274 runs in 12 innings, and has a whopping strike rate of 200 in the 2022 edition. Thus, His performance in this season is one of the major reasons why Bangalore are currently placed fourth on the points table. During the game between the Faf du Plessis-led side and Hyderabad, the keeper-batter scored an eight-ball 30 which ensured that his side get to a good total during the first innings as Bangalore got to 193.
During his cameo, Karthik scored four sixes and one four. Hence, his knock managed to impress one and all. In fact, Virat Kohli was seen bowing down to him as well. This gesture by the legendary batter won everyone's heart.
This occurred when Karthik was walking back to the dressing room. After bowing down to the keeper-batter, Kohli went on to hug him as well. However, it is to be noted that the 33-year-old hasn't really been in the best of form of late. Kohli scored a golden duck during the game against the orange army as well.
Nevertheless, the Bangalore-based franchise still ended up winning the game rather comfortably. They beat Hyderabad by 67 runs. Their skipper Faf du Plessis also went on to appreciate Karthik for his knock. The Proteas batter also revealed that they were contemplating "retiring out" himself to get Karthik in.
"If he Dinesh Karthik is hitting sixes like that, we want to get him in and bat as long as possible. He's just so clear. To be honest, I was actually trying to get out because I was so tired, to get DK in. We were even contemplating - myself 'retiring out'. And then, we lost that wicket. DK is in such good form. It was a tricky wicket. A lot of guys, their first few balls, they struggled. Lucky for us, there was a drop catch of DK and he just took them apart," said Faf du Plessis during the post-match presentation.
