The 46th match of the Indian T20 league 2022 saw Chennai beat Hyderabad by 13 runs. This victory comes as a huge sigh of relief for the defending champions as they now still stand a chance of making it to the playoffs. As far as the game between the yellow army and the orange army is concerned, it turned out to be a high-scoring contest.
Batters from both teams were hitting sixes for fun. Thus, it wasn't really a good day for the bowlers. Ruturaj Gaikwad in particular showed no mercy on the Hyderabad bowlers. Even Umran Malik wasn't spared, as he too had to face the wrath of the Chennai opener. As a matter of fact, the speedster went for 48 runs in his four overs.
The talented pacer had a rare bad day. Nevertheless, he still managed to grab the headlines. Malik went on to bowl the fastest delivery of the Indian T20 league 2022 on Sunday. It was during the second ball of the 10th over when he did the same. Malik bowled a full ball to Gaikwad, which clocked 154 kmph.
However, the batter hit it for a four. Malik then touched the 154 kmph once again during his final over. His second 154 kmph delivery of the match came during the 19th over of the first innings. During the third ball, Malik touched the mark, and it was MS Dhoni who faced it. The keeper-batter squeezed it down towards mid-off for a single. This over saw the Jammu and Kashmir pacer go for just eight runs.
The video of him touching 154 kmph went viral as well. People once again appreciated Malik's ability to generate the extra pace. Despite not being at his best during the game, Malik has been superb in this edition. He has picked 15 wickets from nine matches as of now.
