After the humiliating defeat against Namibia in their tournament opener, the Sri Lankan team locked horns with the United Arab Emirates in their second match of the tournament. UAE skipper CP Rizwan won the toss and asked the Lankan tigers to bat first at GMHBA Stadium in South Geelong. Although the Sri Lankan team completely outplayed the UAE but there was something else from the match that made it to the headlines of social media.

It was none other than Junaid Siddique who has become the talk of the town despite ending up on the wrong side in the match. Siddiqui happened to smash a mind-blowing six of 109 meters over the top. It came in the 17th over of the UAE innings when Sri Lankan pacer Dushmantha Chameera was in the attack for bowling.

Chameera came up with the second ball of the over, he bowled a swinging one into the pads of Siddique and the latter took no time in sending the new ball over the roof for a massive 109 meters. Following this six from Siddique, the umpires had to change the ball as the last one couldn’t be accessed.

Notably, it is also the biggest six of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 so far, the video of Siddique’s maximum has gone viral over social media within minutes of being shared from various Twitter handles.

Speaking of the match, the Sri Lankan team posted a total of 152 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Opener Pathum Nissanka played a brilliant knock of 74 runs off 60 balls with six boundaries and two sixes to his name. Other than Nissanka, Dhananjaya de Silva also played a crucial knock of 33 runs off 21 balls with three boundaries and a six on his credit.

While chasing the target, UAE got bundled up only on the score of 73 runs in 17.1 overs and eventually, Sri Lanka won the match by 79 runs. Pathum Nissanka won the ‘player of the match award for his match-defining performance.
