After claiming a conspicuous win in the T20I series against South Africa, the Indian team is all set to take on the former in the ODI series set to get underway on October 6, Thursday. While the mainstream Indian squad are set to board the flight to Australia, India will play with a second-string team in the ODIs.
Shikhar Dhawan, who led the team in the West Indies ODI series, is all set to wear the captaincy hat again. On the other hand, South Africa is playing their full-strength squad with Temba Bavuma leading the side yet again. Ahead of the series, the Indian cricket board’s social media team posted a video of the Indian team’s practice session in which the likes of Shubman Gill, Dhawan, Kuldeep Yadav and others can be seen toiling it hard.

Mukesh Kumar gets maiden call-up for team India
Mukesh Kumar, the pacer who plays for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy, has received his maiden call-up for the Indian team. The road to the call-up was not snap for him as he had to knock the selectors with his unavoidable domestic performances.
The 28-year-old said that he remembered his late father’s face when he got the call-up. Further, the pacer said that his mother got very emotional and hoped to do well for India.
“I got very emotional. It was all blur. I could only remember my father late Kashi Nath Singh’s face. My father, till I played Ranji Trophy for Bengal did not think I am good enough to do well professionally. Unko Shaq thaa ki main kaabil hoon bhi ya nahi (He doubted whether I was good enough or not),” Mukesh was quoted as saying.
“Today my mom had tears in her eyes. She was so emotional. Everyone at home started crying. Mujhe ground se dekhne se zyada meri mummy mujhe kaamyab dekhna pasand karenge. (More than watching me from the ground, my mother would like to see me become successful.),” said the pacer further.
