Unarguably, Chennai’s best batter in the history of the Indian T20 League, Suresh Raina is no longer a part of the team. He couldn’t participate in the 2020 edition due to personal reasons and had a dismal run in the 2021 edition of the tournament. In 12 matches, he could only manage to score 160 runs at an average of 17.77.
Unfortunately, Chennai didn’t bid for him at the 2022 Mega Auction. Suresh Raina’s presence in the dressing room and at the ground will certainly be missed. He has scored the most runs for the franchise in the history of the competition. Suresh Raina is currently the fourth-highest run-getter in the tournament. In 205 matches, he scored 5528 runs at an average of 32.51.
Chances are unlikely that a franchise will bid for him in the upcoming auctions and the fans won’t be able to witness those huge sixes from the southpaw ever again. However, the CSK’s former batter is currently making his presence felt in the commentary panel.
Besides giving his valuable insights on every game, he didn’t miss the chance to cheer for his favourite franchise. Suresh Raina has often expressed his love for MS Dhoni and the Chennai franchise. Despite losing two consecutive games, Raina is confident that Chennai will fight back strongly.
Recently, on a fan’s demand, Suresh Raina sang the classic phrase from the Chennai franchise’s theme song. Raina joined Star Sports Tamil Commentary panel, where a fan asked him to sing the classic phrase hymn, “Namma Thala Dhoni ku periya whistle adinga” by another commentator. The clip shared by a Twitter user named Manoj Maddy perfectly demonstrated Suresh Raina’s love for the Chennai franchise.
Never ending love of @ImRaina

Defending champions, Chennai haven’t made an ideal start to their 2022 campaign. They have lost both the games played thus far in the tournament. Chennai are slated to play their next match against Punjab on Sunday at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
