With just 11 days to go in the 20-20 World Cup, Star Sports, the official broadcaster of the tournament in India, released the promo for the mega event on Thursday. The promo features star Indian cricketer Virat Kohli, who’s seen excited with the fans in the video.

The promo shows the timeline of fans from India’s inaugural 20-20 World Cup win to the current year. Fans are seen waiting impatiently for India’s second 20-20 World Cup win.

India won the inaugural edition of the tournament way back in 2007 under the leadership of MS Dhoni. The ‘Men-in-Blue’ have since then failed to repeat their heroics in their next six attempts. The Indian team were knocked out of the World Cup last year in the first stage itself.
Rohit Sharma will be leading the team this year in the tournament as the fans desperately want their 15-year-long wait to finally come to an end. Bowling has been a huge concern for Rohit Sharma’s men heading into the world cup, which has been exacerbated by the unavailability of Jasprit Bumrah due to an injury.
The Indian team management is yet to name the replacement of the pace spearhead. Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj and Deepak Chahar are the three seamers in contention to be in the squad.
India were knocked out of the Asia Cup recently due to their failure to defend targets in two back-to-back matches against Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Seamer Harshal Patel has struggled at the death as he’s been taken to the cleaners consistently.
On the batting front, the order looks settled as all the batters have looked in sublime form. Suryakumar Yadav will prove to be India’s X factor in the tournament as he has been having a terrific year with the bat. Yadav has scored the most number of runs in a calendar year for India in T20Is this year.
The spin department has Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel. Both Patel and Chahal have been in fine form and will surely feature in the playing XI in the first game. Indian bowlers have a huge task ahead of them without their star seamer in the tournament. It will be interesting to see how Rohit Sharma manages his bowling attack at the mega event.
