India and Australia will play a three-match T20I series from September 20 to September 25. During the series, modern-day greats and former skippers of both sides, Virat Kohli and Steve Smith will be in action. Both players led their respective sides for a long time and now are free from the captaincy duties. The last time they played each other in the shortest format was way back in late 2020.
In the three-match series played back then, Kohli and Smith were the second and third highest run-getters respectively. However, there was a significant difference between both players in terms of runs scored. The former India skipper scored 134 runs in the series at an average of 44.66 and a strike rate of 142.55 with the highest score of 89.
On the other hand, Smith only managed 82 runs at an average of 27.33 and a poor strike rate of 117.44 with the highest score of 46. Fast forward to September, both players are coming off centuries in different formats. Kohli recently broke the jinx of not scoring a hundred during the Asia Cup 2022. In the game against Afghanistan, he scored his 71st century after a wait of almost three years.
On the other hand, Steve scored another ODI hundred in the game against New Zealand. In the upcoming series between India and Australia, both players will be ones to watch out for. Meanwhile, the broadcaster of the series in India, Star Sports uploaded a crossover video of both players.

Talking about the series, it is important for Steve Smith as his approach in the T20Is has been under scrutiny for quite some time. He has a point to prove to the critics. However, one thing in his favor is that he is carrying some form in the series.
